First recordings
Today our first fieldwork starts.
Let’s gather some data !
Finally, Pepper has been set up for the first fieldwork. We struggled to adapt what we wanted to the built-in software limits and conventions of programming. Anyway, this ad-hoc first version is only a way to see how humans behave.
You can now meet Pepper at the Université Claude Bernard’s library. We will record naturally occurring interactions with students who need help to orient in the library.
One robot, three cameras, three microphones, five researchers and hundreds of library users. The fieldwork is actually quite intense to conduct since we have to collect the informed consent from all the students that interact with the robot. On the picture above, you can see Nour and Lucien equiped to collect these precious signatures, while Antoine is checking Pepper. We will stay here during two weeks.
Looking forward to get a first insight into the data!
